今日は横浜ボートシアターの『恋に狂いてー愛護の若』を観た。急に長谷寺に行きたくなり急きょ新幹線とホテルを予約してしまった。
今日のタイトルの「なぜレシフェだったのか」とどんな関係があるのか。1年近くいたハイチの次の行き先をブラジルのレシフェにした理由については、単純と言えば単純、複雑と言えば複雑なのだが、一つだけではないのでおいおいと書きたいが、「愛護の若」とも関連がないとも言えない。もともとフィールドワーカーになるなどということは全く考えていなかった自分が、ハイチに行ってみようという気になったのは、その頃の自分に最も影響力のあった知人、K氏との付き合いのなかからであった。そのころのK氏との会話のなかでよく話題になったのは説教節とか丹録本についてであった。その後、K氏は日本文化研究へと深く関与するようになるのであるが、私は逆に同じ関心を、ハイチとハイチの延長上にある地域へと向けるようになったのである。
